Meeting of the generations
At the end of the old millennium, the future was heralded in Wuppertal. On December 23, 1999, the 45rpm club opened, which in the following years developed into one of the most popular meeting places for a new and hungry generation of clubbers and became known beyond the city limits. The club was located in the heart of Wuppertal, in the city center below the pedestrian zone and close to the main train station. The location was a former arthouse cinema, previously a porn cinema.

The crew at the time offered a broad musical program that included new, current and progressive music, but also had enough room for tried and tested sounds - from breakbeats, house, drum'n'bass, 2step, hip-hop to soul, funk, funk, disco, reggae and indie - and created a lovingly designed location with a familiar living room atmosphere - also thanks to the legendary red and gold velvet wallpaper. In addition to many local acts, up-and-coming newcomers and internationally renowned DJs and bands from all over Europe and beyond regularly played at 45rpm. Comedy, literature and theater also had their place in this unique venue.

It was this mixture of music, family atmosphere, a relaxed door policy and a feeling that you were always welcome that made 45rpm a popular meeting place and shaped a young generation of clubbers.
But at some point - in the morning hours of March 27, 2005 - every wonderful time that was beautiful, formative, exhausting and sometimes difficult - in short: great - comes to an end.

And because it was so wonderful, we got together last year for the big anniversary. It was a big party, full of nostalgia, but still in the here and now with an audience from the past and current clubbers. It was a meeting of the generations.
