Kölner Shorts with Stephanie Thiersch, Bibiana Jiménez, Emanuele Soavi, Michael Maurissens & Overhead Project / Tim Behren What happens when established choreographers radically concentrate the format - and condense dance films into just a few seconds? Kölner Shorts is Moovy's artistic answer to this question: a series of experimental short pieces in the style of digital formats such as TikTok - precise, pointed and surprising. And can be found as QR codes all over the city of Cologne, where the videos were made. Five renowned Cologne choreographers have embarked on this format.
Their dance miniatures break new ground not only formally, but also spatially: The pieces were realized directly in Cologne's urban space - at bus stops, in squares, in passages and urban in-between places. Kölner Shorts makes dance visible in places where it is not expected. Passers-by can access the films directly at the locations via QR codes. Cologne becomes a stage, a projection screen - and a digital platform. In this way, dance art shifts into everyday life and becomes a spontaneous, location-based and low-threshold experience. The project combines artistic quality with the language of today's media culture and also invites a younger audience to rediscover dance film. Moovy would like to thank all the artists involved for their openness, curiosity and courage to be radically short.
