Originally a classical string quartet, Hamburg-based Amanda Bailey, Jansen Folkers, Ingmar Süberkrüb and Martin Bentz have also been highly regarded in pop circles since their collaboration with Chilly Gonzales (2015 album "Chambers"). He called them "the world's most expensive sampler" - apt, as precise and rhythmic as they play. Their albums "Kaiser Quartett" (2019) and "Empire" (2023) show what is possible with two violins, viola and cello: echoes of film music, Americana, funk, electro - absolutely accurate and yet unagitated. The Kaiser Quartet is regarded as the most subtle unplugged quartet in pop.
In addition to their band career, they have worked with artists such as Roosevelt, Leoniden, Daniel Hope, Jarvis Cocker, Die Sterne, Ry X, Anna Ternheim, Giant Rooks, Gregory Porter and currently Berq, making their mark on the international concert scene. In 2017 they won the Hamburg music prize HANS, in 2023 the Dutch EDISON for "Empire".
Kaiser Quartett is currently working on their third album and will play a "house concert" in the intimate ambience of the Kunstklinik, featuring highlights from their previous albums and giving first musical insights into the process of creating the new album.
