This group from Timbuktu was founded in 1995 in exile between the refugee camps in Mauritania and Burkina Faso. All members come from the Timbuktu region, more precisely from the Cercle Goundam. The group has a single aim: to sing about exile, love, peace and the political situation of the Tuareg people. Tartit was founded to preserve the traditional music of the Tuareg, which was slowly disappearing.
Tartit is one of the leading groups of the Tuareg music scene and one of the few groups consisting mainly of women. This tour will feature five of them, accompanied by two guitarists. They will present their latest album "Amankor / The Exile" as well as more traditional songs from their rich repertoire.
Tartit's concerts are an invitation to a journey into the desert. This inviting and almost hypnotic music inevitably transports you to the mystical world of the Kel Tamasheq (a people who speak Tamasheq, the language of the Tuareg). The magic of the performance is enhanced by the beauty of the traditional dresses and authentic instruments. The songs consist of traditional and modern melodies.
Women's voices, youyou, clapping and dancing - the magic of Tartit takes your audience on an unforgettable journey.
