Bernadette La Hengst is the most multifaceted protagonist of the so-called Hamburg School. She has released almost 20 albums solo, with her band Die Braut haut ins Auge and with projects such as Die Zukunft and Schwabinggrad Ballett since 1988. She is not only a great songwriter and musician, but also a director, choir leader, radio presenter and femme de lettres. In her debut book "Warum ich so laut singen kann", she not only talks about her life as an artist, but also lets all her song lyrics have their say. These are commented on by Bernadette La Hengst with her very own perspective as a woman in the cultural industry. A great pleasure!

Of course, Bernadette La Hengst will also present a musical overview of her work on May 3 at Salon 3SEIN alongside the reading.

Bernadette La Hengst, born in Münster in 1967, grew up in Bad Salzuflen and founded the band Die Braut haut ins Auge in Hamburg in 1989 with musician friends. She also played and sang with bands such as Huah!, the Mobylettes and Rocko Schamoni. From 2000, Bernadette La Hengst began a solo career, staging plays, writing for various publications and acting as a narrator in radio plays. She has lived and worked in Berlin since 2004.
