From mid-January, the second floor of the Kulturhaus Schwanen will be transformed into a space of intense perception. With the exhibition "Kopfbilder - was können wir wahrnehmen?", Karlsruhe-born painter and sculptor Aaron Antes is presenting a major solo exhibition in Waiblingen for the first time. His works move between painting and sculpture and open up a field of tension that raises questions about identity, memory and social responsibility.
At the center of his work is the head - as a place of thinking, feeling and remembering. Alienations, breaks and playful exaggerations create images that not only look at the viewer, but also draw them into reflection. Almost every work has its own theme - destruction, development, fear of one's own freedom. Antes' examination of symbols that are burdened by history is particularly impressive: alienated swastikas, barely recognizable, challenge us to think about new manifestations of old ideas. The exhibition takes a clear stance against inhuman ideologies and invites people to engage in dialog.
Aaron Antes, a trained carpenter, musician and self-taught sculptor, has developed a distinctive artistic expression in recent years with over 150 works. His works are often created on thin poplar plywood or in wooden sculptures whose surfaces visibly bear the traces of the tool.
The vernissage will take place on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 7 pm in the Kulturhaus Schwanen (1st floor). Admission is free. The exhibition is open until February 16, 2026 during the regular opening hours of the house.
The pictures are often painted on 4mm poplar plywood with acrylic paint.
