Korhan Futacı

[Korhan Futacı (b. 1977) is an Istanbul-based saxophonist, composer, producer, singer and songwriter. A fixture of the Turkish alternative music scene, Futacı is currently focusing on his solo project and his free jazz band "Konstrukt", which he co-founded in 2008. Futacı's solo project is a subtle blend of psychedelic rock, jazz and lyrical music, which he interweaves with the Anatolian essence. By transforming the chaos of Istanbul into an energetic, ritualistic atmosphere imbued with dark sounds and abstract textures, Korhan, together with his musician friends, aims to take the audience beyond time and space and let them feel the invisible colors of resonances.

Transforming Istanbul's chaos into an energetic ritual-like atmosphere infused with dark sounds and abstract textures, Korhan and his beloved musician friends aim of making audiences travel beyond time and space to feel the unseen colors of the resonances.

Volkmann/Xylouris/Kontou

An encounter between tradition and avant-garde: the two Cologne jazz and improvisation musicians Athina Kontou and Luise Volkmann meet the famous Cretan lute player and singer Giorgos Xylouris. The focus is on the dialog between origins and new beginnings, between tradition and the improvised present: Kontou and Volkmann, known for their combination of Southeast European/Anatolian traditional music and contemporary jazz with their band "Mother", create a musical space with Xylouris in which the forces of both worlds come into their own. Xylouris is an international star of traditional music who has made a name for himself in recent years with his experimental works, both with his duo Xylouris/White and his current solo program "Homa". This is the interface with Kontou and Volkmann, who are at home in contemporary sound worlds. The trio takes a radically contemporary approach to traditional music, bringing the old traditional and archaic sounds into the here and now. Luise Volkmann and Athina Kontou have both been nominated several times for the German Jazz Award and the German Record Critics' Award.
