KRABAT

Krabat is a Sorbian legendary figure who has not only moved our neighbors in Lusatia for generations. There are countless variations of the Krabat legend. Antje Horn and Tom van Mieghem tell their very own version of the story in two languages at the same time. Krabat is poor and lives on the margins of society. He longs for prosperity and power. The master offers him the prospect of all this, and Krabat seizes the opportunity to escape his life of beggary and insignificance. By the time he realizes the price he has to pay, he is already entangled and trapped in a dark story. Is it too late to turn back? Is there a way out?
The German-Belgian duo touch on many themes in their telling of the saga. It is about dreams, desires, longings, power, manipulation, oppression, freedom, the power of friendship and the invincibility of love. Before starting their artistic careers, both storytellers worked in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry. In this context, they discovered the power of storytelling and now pass this on through storytelling alone, in pairs or with other partners.
