Crime Trail Aachen: The dead Roman 🏛️
A murder case between history, madness and reality
A crime trail is the perfect mix of city tour, puzzle game and real investigative work. You move freely through Aachen, follow an exciting story and use your smartphone to collect clues, question suspects and combine clues. You set the pace and sequence yourself - and discover the city from a completely new perspective along the way.
In the "Dead Roman" case, it all begins in the spa gardens: a man dressed like a Roman is repeatedly spotted there. It soon becomes clear that he is a history professor who has been studying Aachen's Roman past intensively. But his fascination apparently went far beyond academic interest - friends report that he became increasingly obsessed with his role. Then came the shocking twist: The "Roman" is found dead in the park. Murder. His daughter reports strange developments in the weeks before - and suddenly there seems to be more to the case than just an unusual obsession.
Now you take over. As a team of investigators, you follow the professor's trail, check statements, uncover contradictions and try to find out what really happened. Who had a motive? Which clues are relevant - and which are deliberately misleading?
Your route takes you through some of Aachen's most exciting places: from the Kurgarten, where it all began, to the traditional Elisenbrunnen fountain and the archaeological display case, which gives you an insight into the Roman past. At the Centre Charlemagne, you can delve deeper into the history of the city, while the Katschhof with its view of the cathedral and town hall provides an impressive backdrop for your investigations. Between the Puppenbrunnen fountain and the lively Pontstraße, you will experience Aachen between past and present - and get closer to the case step by step.
