On October 10 and 11, 2025, Töwerland will be the scene of all kinds of crimes. Look forward to readings by prominent writers and a program that really packs a punch. Crime fans and those who want to become one are guaranteed to get their money's worth!
Reading and interviews with Sandra Lüpkes and Jürgen Kehrer
Sandra Lüpkes wrote her first crime novel on Juist. Jürgen Kehrer was the first recipient of the Tatort Töwerland crime fiction scholarship. This is where they met and now they have more in common than just crime writing.
Readings and interview with Oliver Bottini
He was one of the first recipients of the Tatort Töwerland crime fiction scholarship.
Since his first crime novel Mord im Zeichen des Zen was awarded 3rd place in the 2005 German Crime Novel Prize, he has become one of the most respected crime novelists in Germany, both among literary critics and the reading public.
Reading and interview with Tatjana Kruse
As often as Juist has welcomed her, you can probably call it a second home.
She says of herself: "Born on a hillside in southern Germany, she is a committed crime writer, specializing in light-hearted crime stories, thrillers and "-movies" of all kinds, but with no shortage of suspense. Her invariable trademark: Always dressed all in black!"
Reading and interview with Jan Zweyer
The crime novelist from the "Kohlenpott" wrote the first Juister crime novel, Tatort Töwerland. He accompanied Sandra Lüpkes and Thomas Koch during the development of the Juist crime fiction scholarship and the Juist crime fiction festival Tatort Töwerland. The name of his Juist novel became the program there.
Admission: 15€
You will receive a ticket that is valid for all events at the crime festival. Tickets for individual events are not available. Tickets can be purchased directly from the Koch bookshop online or on site.
In 2025, the Koch bookshop celebrates its 75th anniversary. A reason to celebrate! That's what bookseller Thomas Koch thinks. But he is not celebrating with a party, but with lots of readings in the summer - readings by authors with close ties to Juist who are celebrating with him. And also with the now 25th edition of the legendary crime festival on Töwerland. So if you needed another reason (for whatever reason!) to visit the crime festival, the 25th anniversary of "Tatort Töwerland" and the 75th anniversary of the Koch bookshop on Juist is probably just that!
You can find out more about the varied history of Juist's Koch bookshop and why Juist is also known as "Crime Island" from Thomas Koch himself in our podcast "SandBankLiebe".
