Mannheim's Umsonst & Draußen Festival

It's that time again: "Kultur in the City" returns - and finally transforms Mannheim back into a big summer stage! From August 20 to September 5, 2025, we will celebrate art, music and life with you every Wednesday and Friday at 7 pm on the lawn of the Citykirche Konkordien - live, local and in the open air and in wet weather in the church.

Whether you're old friends or new faces - we're looking forward to seeing you! Bring your own food, drinks and of course your dancing shoes - and make yourself comfortable with us. You can expect special performances by Mannheim artists, exciting encounters and unforgettable summer evenings in a relaxed atmosphere.

Kultur in the City is more than just a festival - it is a place of encounters, diversity and inspiration. A piece of living city culture that shows how colorful and lively Mannheim is.

This year, we are particularly pleased about the cooperation with IG Jazz Rhein-Neckar, which has already formed a great team with us in the planning phase. Two of the six festival evenings are presented and curated by IG Jazz, four others by livekultur mannheim e.V. - with a lot of heart, local commitment and artistic diversity.

And what exactly can you expect?
You can be curious! It will be diverse, surprising and full of magical live moments. We are currently screening a large selection of exciting acts. So take a look here - the anticipation is growing!

Why we need your support

Despite a shortage of public funding - as we are all experiencing in Mannheim at the moment - the Department of Culture continues to support us with great commitment. The Esser Foundation and many private donors have also helped to make "Kultur in the City" possible this year. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

But to be honest: unfortunately, it's not enough. A festival like this takes a lot of heart and soul - and also money.
