Kulturwochen „Der andere Blick" – Eritrea verborgenes Land (Lecture Performance, Live Musik und Finissage) mit Kalle Aldis Laar

In his audio-visual lecture, Kalle Aldis Laar traces the extremely exciting history of Eritrea with the help of selected songs and extensive image and film material. Initially as a participant in an art and culture project (organized by Artcircolo, among others), Kalle Aldis Laar travelled to Eritrea several times, most recently supported by a "Grenzgänger-Stipendium" from the Robert Bosch Foundation. He interviewed numerous musicians and contemporary witnesses, spoke to musicologists and researched archives.

From the colonial era to the Second World War, the founding of the UN and the changing alliances during the Cold War to post-colonialism and its independence movements: all the global political developments of the last century have directly affected Eritrea and left their mark. Music accompanies the lives of Eritreans, and the history of the struggle for independence in particular has been intensively reflected here. The musicians are the heart and soul of Eritrea.
