The motto of SHORT FILM DAY 2025 is: NOW!

Because now is the time to get started and make a difference. Not at some point - but right now.

The motto calls on us to become active, to take a closer look, to get involved. It stands for the urgency of telling and shaping now.

At the same time, JETZT! invites you to consciously experience the moment. To perceive the present with all your senses - in images, in sounds, in emotions. Short films do just that: they capture the now - directly, precisely, movingly.

Whether social, political or personal: what does your NOW look like?
KURZFILMTAG is Germany's biggest day of action for short films. Whether cinema or classroom, cultural center or living room - from December 15 to 21, we celebrate the diversity of short film. From moving to bizarre, from political to poetic: short films tell great stories in short form - condensed, creative and surprising.

What is shown and how is entirely up to the organizers: from a classic cinema evening to a pop-up cinema in the forest - anything is possible. Many combine the film program with talks, music, food or art events.

KURZFILMTAG brings short film into the heart of society. It makes the creative diversity of this often overlooked format visible - and also reaches people who otherwise rarely come into contact with short film.

Last year, over 400 organizers responded to the call - with more than 500 events nationwide. Will you be there this time?
