Paris 1830: Marcello, Rodolfo, Colline and Schaunard dedicate their lives to their love of art and their artistic ideals - free from social conventions and norms, free from false values. Why feed on fine delicacies when you can also be satisfied by your own verses, by poetry? But the encounter with the sick Mimì reminds everyone how close death is. In La Bohème, first performed at the Teatro Regio in Turin in 1896, Puccini sketches a kaleidoscopic story with refined brushstrokes, as if in an impressionist painting: Alternating between burlesque, sentimental and heartfelt emotional moments, an irresistible mixture of comedy and tragedy, humor and melancholy is created.
