Legacy of Takemitsu – Misora Ozaki "Piano Solo Works"

In the organizer's words:

This evening is dedicated to the Japanese composer Tōru Takemitsu (1930-1996), the 30th anniversary of whose death it is this year. As a teenager, he lived through the Second World War and largely taught himself music. The experience of listening to French chansons on the radio during the war had a lasting effect on Toru Takemitsu and influenced his later path as a composer. His piano works in particular reveal a tonal language reminiscent of French modernism.

The second half of the 20th century was a time between development and chaos. During this period, Takemitsu repeatedly asked himself how the Western world of sound and Japanese identity could be combined. His timeless aesthetic continues to fascinate today and will live on in the future.
