Büchner's classic is transformed into an entertaining and clever theatrical spectacle that humorously and pointedly reveals the absurdities of human existence. A colorful fairytale world full of illusory elements and allusive, elaborately crafted costumes provides the perfect setting.

Büchner's comedy tells the story of two royal children who flee from an arranged marriage, only to - fate or coincidence? - to marry after all. What at first glance seems like the perfect romantic comedy turns out to be more complex on closer inspection. Büchner skillfully packs social and system criticism as well as literary references and quotes from his contemporaries into the play. And so the ridiculousness of human existence is always lurking under the cloak of the shallow.

The tension that arises from this contrast provides the artistic team led by State Director André Bücker with the perfect breeding ground for a great theatrical spectacle.
Together with the audience, the acting ensemble embarks on a veritable trip - once to Italy and back - and creates its own dream world between sense and nonsense, poetry and pragmatism. The perfect escape from everyday life!
