Emerging from the Parisian punk movement, Les Négresses Vertes quickly became one of the defining figureheads of French music abroad.
Founded in Paris in 1987, the independent acoustic rock band combines French chanson with Mediterranean influences. Their debut album Mlah (1988) already crossed musical boundaries and even brought them success in the British charts with their first remixes in 1989. This was followed by further albums such as Famille Nombreuse (1991), Zigzague(1995) and Trabendo (1999), with which the band toured worldwide.
After a break, Les Négresses Vertes celebrated their comeback in 2018 - followed by an impressive tour with over 350 concerts until the end of 2024.
