LesArt.Festival: Robert Stadlober X Tucholsky

In the organizer's words:

Robert Stadlober takes us on a journey with texts by Kurt Tucholsky, which he has selected with precision.

It is about the impossibilities of human interaction. In matters of love as in matters of hate, about the senselessness of violence and the hopelessness of politics, which seeks to communicate itself through violence. It is about the longing for a kind of real life and the perpetual struggle of the many for a small piece of the whole.

The selection of texts is supplemented by a foreword and an epilogue by Robert Stadlober. Staatsakt is also releasing an LP of the same name with Stadlober's Tucholsky settings.

"Guitar strings namely"

The musician and actor Robert Stadlober released an album with new settings of Kurt Tucholsky poems on staatsakt on 30.08.2024. He recorded the album entitled "Wenn wir einmal nicht grausam sind, dann glauben wir gleich, wir seien gut" together with producer Wolfgang Lehmann in his adopted home of Vienna. The result is 12 stunningly good indie folk/pop songs that fit our times frighteningly well. Which is hardly surprising when you think of Tucholsky's explicitly anti-fascist writing.

The LesArt. prize for young literature, sponsored by Sparkasse Dortmund, will also be awarded on this evening.

Robert Stadlober, born in Friesach in 1982, is an Austrian actor, musician and author. He is known for his numerous roles in cinema and television films. With HEYM, his band project together with Klara Deutschmann and Daniel Moheit, he set the poems of Stefan Heym to music. Robert Stadlober lives in Vienna.
