Evening with queer movie, popcorn and talks
LIGHT LIGHT LIGHT (FI 2023, 91 min., OmU, FSK 12)
Spring 1986: A nuclear reactor explodes in Chernobyl, and emotions explode in a small town in western Finland. Mimi is the new girl in class and suddenly fills 15-year-old Mariia's life with radiant light. The two kiss on the beach,
share their fears and experience their first great love. The teenage girls are completely oblivious to the fact that they come from different social classes. 20 years later, Mariia returns to her home country to look after her seriously ill mother. And suddenly the memories of that summer that changed everything come back to life.
"Light Light Light" is based on the bestseller of the same name by Finnish author Vilja-Tuulia Huotarinen. Director Inari Niemi switches between time periods with virtuosity and tells the story of growing up in a time of threat and social divides, full of melancholy and with images flooded with light.
