For his third work in Heidelberg, entitled "On the other side of the moon", director Marcel Kohler takes on the life and work of a very special artist: Hilde Domin. Based on her word art, the director develops a series of scenic miniatures, a panorama about leaving and staying, about the poetry in things and a life "among acrobats and birds".

Forced into exile by the National Socialists, Hilde Domin found her home in words. She initially lived in Italy and fled to the Dominican Republic in 1939.

In the reading time, Katharina Ley presents three early prose works from Hilde Domin's "Antilles Stories", written in the 1940s on the island after which she was named. This literary creative phase shows a still unknown facet of Domin as a storyteller during her time in exile. Accurate and perceptive descriptions of her experiences are combined in these stories with great curiosity and openness towards the unknown.
