It's now official. The new Asterix volume in Ruhr German is called: "Der Mond von Wanne-Eickel". Once again, it's a terrificly humorous and maximally Ruhr German translation by the "Pottfather" of comedy ... Hennes Bender!

Wanne-Eickel! The word alone is pure Ruhrpottromatik.

Just like a currywurst on the canal or a can of Cervisa at the Crange funfair. And that's why the new Ruhr German Asterix volume also tells the story of two lovers, Schakeline and Fritz, who try to bring their feuding towns of Wanne and Eickel together and, of course, need the help of our friends Asterix and Obelix. It's not just the Romans and the stubbornness of the two village leaders that get in their way, there's also a big rift running not just through the middle of the settlement, but also through society itself, because of "territorial reform". The adventure is an ode to love and at the same time a call to stick together, which is exactly what the Ruhr area is all about:
