Sabine Köttelwesch worked for over 30 years as a qualified librarian in the Hessian department of the Kassel University Library and has made a name for herself with numerous publications and lectures on the history of Kassel and regional historical women's studies.

This volume brings together some of Köttelwesch's previously scattered biographies and excitingly readable women's fates, which could not be more different, and at the same time opens up some chapters of Hessian regional history from the early 16th to the end of the 19th century.
