Behind Last Spring is Le Sacre du Printemps by Igor Stravinsky, perhaps the key work in the history of music and dance in the 20th century. Stravinsky's Rite of Spring was already a scandal at its premiere in Paris on May 29, 1913. Claude Debussy referred to the work as the "Massacre du Printemps" due to its enormous musical dimensions. Behind this was an all-out attack by the composer and premiere choreographer Vaslav Nijinski on traditional viewing habits, on the aesthetics of classical ballet and on the perfidious structures of power and hierarchy in the theater. Both opened a door to something completely new, to our present day. Stravinsky was proved right: Paris quickly forgot his bad mood at the premiere -
Today,Le Sacre du Printemps is one of the most frequently performed dance pieces ever.

In Letzter Frühling | Last Spring | אביב אחרון, the two Israeli choreographers Yossi Berg and Oded Graf dive into the soul of the work and reveal its vulnerability. An adventure begins. On this evening, Stravinsky's Sacre will be performed twice, once with a cast of four female dancers and once with four male dancers. Yossi Berg and Oded Graf raise questions about how gender and human existence are positioned and changed through movement, formal language, dynamics and aestheticization. The work Le Sacre du Printemps was created as a monumental icon on the eve of the First World War - now the two choreographers are re-examining the questions of ethos, sacrifice and nation in the context of female and male energy. A spectacle of the end of time full of contradictory images of collective memory, ranging from fanatical passion and stormy sexuality to compassion and poetic tenderness.
