Letzter KoKi-Film im August: Vier Mütter für Edward

The writer Edward (James Mc Ardle) is on the verge of his literary breakthrough; a planned reading tour in the USA is to serve as a catalyst for this. But who can look after his sick and needy mother Alina (Fionnula Flanagan) when he is away for two weeks? And then his three best friends turn up at his door to deliver their mothers to him, for short-term care, so to speak. The author, who is actually busy with his career, now has to cope with looking after four eccentric, argumentative and completely different ladies on a turbulent weekend. British director Darren Thornton drew inspiration for his heart-warming, quirky comedy from the Italian film "The August Banquet" (2008) and his own experiences. "Four Mothers for Edward" never becomes kitschy or sentimental; the four women give each other - and poor Edward - nothing. Biting dialog alternates with many quiet moments in which the film concentrates solely on its characters, who are drawn with warmth and wit.
