"... that so much skill remained hidden for so long."
The Hannelore Cyrus art collection
To mark the 90th birthday of Dr. Dr. Hannelore Cyrus, belladonna is paying tribute to the scientist and co-founder of belladonna with an exhibition. The title, borrowed from a 1924 report on Toni Elster, summarizes the underrepresentation of women in the art world then and now - a grievance that Cyrus opposed throughout her life. On display are portraits, landscapes in watercolor and oil, chalk drawings and still lifes - by Bremen and Worpswede artists, including Toni Elster, Clara Rilke-Westhoff, Else Wiegandt and Ottilie Reylaender.
