Licht- und Technikworkshop // mit Peta Devlin und Kristina Hoffmann

In this workshop we invite you to get a little insight into the world of (live) sound and lighting technology.

The approach is learning by doing - in one afternoon we will set up, connect, adjust and operate the sound and lighting equipment needed for a small concert room and stage together. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get to know the theory behind the practice. It will be intensive, but also fun!

The aim is to do a sound check with a small band at the end and to light up the stage and band well. And also to find out how closely these two areas work together to achieve a successful concert experience.

Topics and questions that we will address:

Sound
How does a band set up sensibly on stage?
What kind of equipment do we need and what is it for?
How is everything set up, connected and wired?
How do I use microphones?
What is a DI box and why do I need it?
What exactly happens at the mixing desk?
How is a sound check carried out?
What is a good sound anyway?

Stage lighting
What does light do to the stage atmosphere?
Which color combinations have what effect?
What is the best way to position stage lighting?
How can you achieve a great effect with well-placed lighting?

A brief insight for anyone interested in sound and lighting technology for live events. No previous knowledge necessary.

Participants* will also have the opportunity to practice and put into practice what they have learned during a FEM*-JAM session at HausDrei.
