Please support our protest for people affected by ME/CFS, Post-Vac and Long-Covid!
We are protesting lying down at Domplatz: grab a mat and give a face to the people who are too ill to be there!
What is ME/CFS?
ME/CFS is a severe neuroimmunological multisystem disease, usually triggered by a viral infection such as Covid-19, influenza or Epstein Barr.
The main symptom is post-exertional malaise (PEM), a delayed deterioration of the patient's condition that lasts for a long time or even permanently.
This is triggered, for example, by the smallest muscular, cognitive, sensory or even emotional activities.
Even everyday things, such as showering, can cause PEM.
Those affected suffer from: persistent leaden exhaustion, brain fog, pain, orthostatic intolerance, dizziness, sleep disorders and a strong sensitivity to stimuli such as light, touch, noise and much more.
There are various degrees of severity, from mild to very severe.
Due to the pronounced symptoms, a normal life is often not possible.
Around 650,000 people in Germany have ME/CFS, around 40 million worldwide, ¾ of whom are women. Many children and adolescents are also affected.
Although ME/CFS was described as a neurological disease by the WHO as early as 1969, there are still no curative drugs/therapies.
Comprehensive medical care is not available.
Those severely affected can only lie down, nothing else!
Life takes place in solitude, mostly in a darkened room - and for many of those affected for years - sometimes forever!
