Light in concert - Objekt-Musiktheater

In the organizer's words:

With their production "Light in Concert", the Bochum-based duo scheinzeitmenschen and the German-Dutch band YENGA operate at the interface of object theater, music and light art. They focus on a property of light as a material that we do not usually perceive: the sound of light.

In an associative sequence of scenes, the five artists play with light objects and make the frequencies of light audible. In doing so, they expand our sensory perception and take the audience into a world of light objects that can be experienced not only visually but also audibly. From meditative to industrial, from wafting to scratching and cracking, unexpected sounds emerge from everyday objects such as fairy lights, flashlights or neon tubes. Their characteristic sounds and rhythms transform the light objects into the radiant protagonists of an object-music performance, which sometimes speak for themselves with individual voices, sometimes come into contact with each other, sometimes appear in multiple voices. In this way, they engage in visual and acoustic storytelling and open up spaces of light and sound that invite you to immerse yourself.
