Lina Majdalanie & Rabih Mroué – Four Walls And a Roof

Lina Majdalanie and Rabih Mroué take their audience back to the year 1947, when Bertolt Brecht is in exile in America and has to answer to the Committee for Un-American Activities (HUAC), which is supposed to combat communist activities. Brecht has written a special statement, which he is ultimately not allowed to read out. With Brecht songs, historical material and clever humor, they pose the timeless question of the freedom of art. Majdalanie and Mroué, who have shared Brecht's experience of exile since their emigration from Beirut to Berlin, are wary of any preconceived ideas. The play premiered at the Festival D'Automne in Paris in 2024.
