As part of her book launch of Gaël Faye's "Jacaranda", literary translator Brigitte Große is offering a taster workshop open to anyone interested in the exciting field of literary translation: What does a literary translator do? What difficulties do they face? What characterizes a good translation?
These and other questions will be discussed - and you will also be able to carry out your own short exercises. Anyone with a good knowledge of German, English and/or French can take part. (Maximum number of participants: 15).

Brigitte Große, born in 1957, was a proofreader and editor and has been working as a literary translator from French and English for many years. She has received numerous awards for her translations of works by Frédéric Beigbeder, Georges-Arthur Goldschmidt and Amélie Nothomb, among others. She has been the German voice of Gaël Faye since 2017. In Bonn, she will talk about her collaboration with Faye and his texts as well as the art of literary translation in general.
