POSTCARDS - "RIPE" TOUR 2025

You don't get a postcard from Beirut every day, because although the city was long regarded as the Paris of the Middle East, it is not necessarily a popular tourist destination today. Beirut is more a topic on the evening news, more of a trouble spot than a cultural center. So it's no wonder that a group from Beirut, Lebanon, initially arouses curiosity. While the world crumbles around them, Postcards transform their rage into something transcendental. With their new studio album "Ripe" (28.03.2025), the Lebanese trio takes everything they have accumulated over the last ten years and stretches it in new, unexpected directions. Ripe is both a breakout and a natural progression for the band: harsher, darker, but with the same unwavering determination - a fitting response to the turmoil their region is currently experiencing.

With their debut "I ́ll be here in the Morning" (2018) and the album "The Good Soldier" (2020), the Postcards have succeeded in creating dream pop to perfection! The album "A>er the Fire, Before the End" (2021) dealt with the unending crises in Lebanon (protests, devastating explosion in Beirut harbor, complete state failure, electricity and economic crisis). In the case of the up-and-coming band, it is obvious to conjure up the allure of the exotic, but this would not do the Postcards justice at all. The band's distinctive sound never betrays its provenance, but rather sounds as if it has escaped from a US college campus. That's exactly where you have to measure it.

Would the Postcards also be a hit if they had emerged from one of the USA's musical hotspots? But yes! Because their music combines melodic subtlety with the guitar sound typical of the genre and vocals that are unparalleled in their expression. Julia Sabra has a delivery that breathes all the forlornness and longing into the microphone almost casually. Sabra's contemplative singsong, the atmospherically dense playing of her band colleagues and a songwriting characterized by delicate yet catchy harmonies make Postcards some of the best the genre has to offer. Solid shoegazer dream indie pop that combines lush indie guitars with ethereal vocals and dreamy melodies. Existentially beautiful.
