AFTERSHOW: KINGSTON HEADROLL
The Kingston Headroll describes a movement that brings dancing couples closer together in a quieter moment of a song. It originated at the time when sweaty ska was just becoming popular, around 1964.
Many years later, a young record collector stumbled across the term - on a compilation given to him by a friend - and named his first party after it, at which only Jamaican sounds of the 60s were played.
Many years have passed since then, and countless events have followed - in clubs, at festivals, indoors and outdoors, in Berlin and far beyond. The names of the events changed, but Kingston Headroll remained a DJ name.
Today, the record box usually contains a rich mix of driving, warm early reggae, powerful Jamaican ska, deep rocksteady and a pinch of roots reggae.
HOST: JOHNNY REGGAE
For more than 10 years, Johnny Reggae has been serving the night dance floors in Kiel and far beyond. He has made it his mission to keep Jamaican music such as early reggae, rocksteady and ska alive in the north of the republic and has already proven this with countless events and continues to prove this with REGGAE + SKA in the Hansa48.
Johnny Reggae is characterized by a good mix and a lot of commitment, which he presents on and behind the turntables.
