featuring Sylvia Vollmer-Werner and Jens Großmann
The somewhat peculiar band name "Local Django Trio" is derived from the most important European jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt (1910 -1953), who added a completely new timbre to the American-influenced sound of jazz.
Reinhardt became famous in the mid-1930s together with the congenial jazz violinist Stéphane Grappelli through the Parisian formation "Hot Club de France", which interpreted the current jazz hits with only violin, solo guitar, two rhythm guitars and a double bass, which was completely new at the time.
Within this framework, he created a completely unique guitar playing style, in which various stylistic elements can be found. It is mainly a combination of jazz from the 20s, 30s and later also the 40s, with the highly virtuoso and often melancholic elements of Sinti and Roma folklore and the very elegant and light-footed French musette style.
The "Local Django Trio", founded in 2018 by Kassel guitarist Frank Brinkmann, draws its inspiration mainly from Reinhardt's extensive repertoire and style, although the pieces of his numerous musical heirs also flow into the program.
The group's current program is further enhanced by the participation of the wonderful singer Sylvia Vollmer-Werner and the virtuoso accordionist Jens Großmann, as swinging jazz manouche meets the special intensity of French chanson.... look forward to a very special concert experience.
