A woman, a man and their letters - that's all American author A.R. Gurney needs to conjure up a touching love story on stage.

Andy and Melissa have been writing to each other since childhood. And they never stop - for the rest of their lives. Different schools, opposing life paths, a war, numerous affairs - but their connection never breaks. Melissa, rich, spoiled and extroverted, meets Andy, well-educated, ambitious and clever. They could hardly be more different - and yet they are always drawn to each other.

In1990, A.R. Gurney was nominated for the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for this unusual exchange of letters. The American Time magazine named Love Letters one of the five best plays of the 1980s. It has also been performed regularly on German stages since then. Now this wonderful story of great love is coming to Dortmund.
