Luminary / Lichtung, Wang Yefu zeichnet Licht – Silke Silkeborg malt die Nacht

In the organizer's words:

Luminary / Clearing

Wang Yefu draws light - Silke Silkeborg paints the night

From December 5, 2025, the Parabel. Center for Art in Hamburg presents the exhibition "Luminary / Lichtung", in which two contemporary artists from East and West meet. Wang Yefu from Shenzhen (China) and Silke Silkeborg from Hamburg explore the contrasts of light and darkness, day and night in drawing and painting.

Wang Yefu works with graphite, which he applies layer by layer until depth and brilliance emerge from the blackness - like a night in which light can only be guessed at. His "Luminary" series has a quiet, meditative effect.

Silke Silkeborg encounters the night with color. She often works outdoors, surrounded by darkness, often only by the light of a headlamp. Her "Lichtung " series of works shows how she condenses stars, water reflections and city lights into quiet images between stillness and movement.

"Luminary / Lichtung" leads drawing and painting, East and West, light and dark into a quiet dialog about perception - and about what becomes visible when light fades or is newly created.
