Author Robert Fleck, Professor of Art and the Public at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf until 2025, and co-author Sophia Sotke talk about their work on the recently published book "Mack - En Face. An artist's life".

Much has been written about Heinz Mack, but this book stands out from the crowd. Here, the artist himself tells the author about his life and gives us deep insights into the motivations and goals of his artistic work - almost as if we were sitting in conversation with this fascinating artist of the century.

A world-class artist and, on the one hand, a human being like all of us, but on the other, permeated by a web of motifs and ideas that we can barely guess at. The book traces this field of tension. We accompany the artist through his eventful life, from the years of the Second World War through the ZERO period to the present day.
