MACKY MESSER was founded in 2011 by Menny Leusmann as a solo project. The music of the multi-instrumentalist and music producer from Dortmund is characterized by influences from legendary bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, The Strokes and Interpol. Leusmann is also the founder of Monkey Moon Recordings Studios, where he has worked with artists and bands such as KMPFSRT, Daily Thompson, Gaupa and Konstantin Wecker.
After the formation of MACKY MESSER, the band was supported live by musician friends (including David Frings from Fjort). They produced their second EP, "Where Do You Live", together with Blackmail guitarist Kurt Ebelhäuser in Koblenz. This was followed by support shows with well-known bands such as The Thermals and John Coffey.
After a longer break from 2016 to 2023, MACKY MESSER returned in early 2024 with a re-release of the album "INSOMNIA".
In 2023, Menny Leusmann dedicated himself to new songs in his studio and brought Jens Vetter (formerly Suzan Köcher's Suprafon) on board to play drums. Together they worked on five of the seven tracks that can be found on the album "ALL FOR THE GOO". For the song "Night's Embrace", Conrad Rehkemper supported with drums and piano.
We are currently working on a new album as a complete band for the first time.
