Lecture by Rebecca Gehrig

What began as a journey to observe lemurs in the wild turns into an adventure full of surprising encounters and personal challenges for Rebecca.

She hikes through wild rainforests with conservationists, is threatened by corrupt police officers and invited to dinner by smugglers. She travels along the east coast of Madagascar on foot, by pirogue, taxi-brousse, train and boat - always in search of the fascinating lemurs.

Rebecca's encounters with the families in small villages, who warmly welcome her into their everyday lives and give her a deep insight into local life, are particularly formative for her.
In her live report, Rebecca talks authentically about her experiences in Madagascar and reads from her book "Der Ruf der Lemuren - Bei den stillen Helden Madagaskars" ("The Call of the Lemurs - Among the Silent Heroes of Madagascar"), published by Reisedepeschen Verlag.
