Our world often seems to organize itself magically - without central control, but with complex effects. The special exhibition "Magical!" at the Forum Wissen invites children and adults to discover everyday and fascinating natural phenomena such as cloud formation.
From 28 August 2025 to 1 February 2026, the University of Göttingen's Knowledge Museum is presenting an exhibition that explores the dynamics and self-organization of nature. Visitors can observe a 3D simulation of bacteria, experience turbulent currents and experiment on a model wind farm to find the most efficient arrangement of wind turbines.
The exhibition is based on current research findings from the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization (MPI-DS) in Göttingen, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2025. In close cooperation with scientists from the MPI-DS and a 5th grade class from the Felix-Klein-Gymnasium in Göttingen, an exhibition was created that makes complex phenomena clear and understandable - from molecular cell processes to atmospheric movement patterns.
Magical!" was curated by Tatjana Dübbel (Forum Wissen) and Manuel Maidorn (MPI-DS). The exhibition can be seen in the "Freiraum" (80 square meters) of the Forum Wissen. A varied accompanying program with lectures, hands-on activities and a laser show on the outer facade of the Forum Wissen complements the exhibition.
Free admission.
Opening: Wednesday, August 27, 2025, 6:30 pm.
