Experience a particularly impressive Kreuzchor Vespers on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 5:00 pm in the majestic Kreuzkirche Dresden. On this afternoon, the male voices of the Dresden Kreuzchor will take center stage and offer a program of special tonal density under the proven direction of Kreuzkantor Martin Lehmann. The choir will be accompanied by Ulf Prelle on cello and Donatus Bergemann on double bass as well as Angela Brandt and choir conductor Sebastian Herrmann on the continuo organ.

The deeply moving Vespergesang (responsory and hymn for male choir, violoncello, double bass and organ) MWV B 26 by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy is at the heart of the musical hour. This rarely performed work unfolds an extraordinary emotional depth and a rich, warm sound palette, which is particularly accentuated by the deep registration of the male choir in combination with the melancholy string colors and the foundation of the organ. Mendelssohn's music here is a masterpiece of Romantic church music that transports the listener into a world of devotion and sublimity. This is complemented by his festive Sonata in C minor op. 65 No. 2 for organ, played by Ulrich Heine.
