Art. Climate. City. Future.
How much open space does a city need to be able to breathe?
And how much open space do people need to really live?
With the project "Der Mannheimer Freiraumtyp", the artist UlrikeSSK - kUnStStücK takes us on a fascinating journey through art, urban development and social awareness.
From a bird's eye view - inspired by the urban planning feasibility study of the conversion areas - a unique artistic concept was created in 2013: the open space type as a living symbol of Mannheim's soul.
Over 100 works, from square paintings and sculptures to poetic texts, tell the story of a city in transition. Of air, light, concrete and hope. Of social spaces, political responsibility and the question of how art can create awareness.
Their motivation: art as the breath of the city.
Their dream: open space as an educational mission - in all of Mannheim's schools.
