Maria De Val

Maria de Val has a very special view of the world, and it is precisely this view that she takes with her on her journey. Having grown up in a Ladin mountain village in the South Tyrolean Alps, the versatile musician has combined the most diverse perspectives - as a Ladin in South Tyrol, a South Tyrolean in Italy, an Italian in Germany and, last but not least, as a drummer in the male-dominated world of music. Her music is the result of this exciting versatility. "I don't want to say I've suffered from it," says Maria, "but of course it sharpens the sensors." And it is precisely this sensitivity that is reflected in her music.

As a multi-instrumentalist, Maria de Val masters an impressive range of instruments: drums, guitar, bass, keys, sequencer, theremin and marimba - all of which flow into her musical creations. She has already demonstrated her skills on the big stages with artists such as Hubert von Goisern, but on her debut album "Mëda Medusa" she now shows herself in all her musical diversity.

The album finally offers her unmistakable voice the space to fully unfold after she was previously celebrated in bands such as Ganes and ME + MARIE. Her songs blend flexibility and a longing for her own place - an exciting yin and yang that reflects her very own perspective on the world. Musically inimitable in "De Val's collage style", she interweaves indie folk with influences from Italian and South American music culture, as in the rousing number "None of Us Cannot Be Wrong".
