An ageing petrol station bistro at the lowest point in Austria, the Mariannengraben. 113 meters above sea level, world events and various drinks wander across the sticky counter: Failed barbecues, the inability to drink from an EU-standardized buttermilk carton, hardcore lovesickness and the eternal loyalty to the combustion engine in the car country of Austria. Driven by Melange and apricot schnapps, we soon arrive at the really big concepts: freedom, responsibility and justice. Power, status and its symbols. Late at night, the hardened fronts don't seem to move an inch - only the storm Herta is rapidly approaching the petrol station. And as the water level rises, the lines that had just been clearly drawn in the Mariannengraben begin to blur.

Between dark humor and existential urgency, Maria Muhar slithers through a ludicrous reflection on a time that is almost impossible to grasp. Unless you start at the deepest point.
