Marina Schlagintweit Large Ensemble

In the organizer's words:

The Munich pianist and composer Marina Schlagintweit - recently awarded the Music Scholarship of the City of Munich - brings her nine-piece Large Ensemble to the Milla Club. Her music spans a luminous arc between jazz, new music and experimental electronics: sometimes powerful and strong, then again delicate, light-flooded and warm. Alto flute, violin, bass clarinet, trumpet, trombone, rhythm section and live electronics complete and combine to form a great whole; electronics are themselves an instrument here, not just an effect. Marina's compositions broaden the horizon. They open up spaces for risky improvisations in a delightfully witty and technically refined way - discovery music for the ear, heart and brain. Well-rooted in the local scene (she studied jazz piano and composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and received the BMW Young Artist Jazz Award in 2024), she builds and enlivens bridges to Leipzig and Berlin. And thus forms a sound that not only touches on boundaries, but curiously crosses them. Great band, great sound.
