Marionettenbühne Mummenschanz: Die lustigen Weiber von Altena // Fritz-Wortelmann-Preis 2025

PUPPET THEATER

Altena at the end of the Thirty Years' War. The beautiful Helena is courted by the captain Don Ambrosio and the castle clerk Johann Holtzbrinck. Helena rebuffs Johann for the sake of money and becomes engaged to Ambrosio, who soon turns out to be a mean impostor. Meanwhile, Johann is promoted to court councillor and is no longer interested in Helena. Helena swears revenge on Ambrosio, but the murder plot she instigates has an unexpected outcome. The fact that Cupid, the god of love, wins out in the end is almost a miracle...

A musical comedy from the Baroque era, staged with over 20 marionettes.
