MARKUS STROTHMANN'S EMERALD
FEAT. FIETE FELSCH

Inspired by his Irish roots, Markus Strothmann has given his own compositions an exciting Celtic feel. He succeeds in expanding the color palette of jazz with emerald green. The music lives from a deep atmosphere that is reminiscent of the rough Irish Sea, massive rocky coasts and vast landscapes. Singer Yvonne Dombrowski authentically conveys the lyrics, which are performed in English and Irish. Guitarist Alex Florin creates images of faraway places with his guitar sounds, while Jonathan Ihlenfeld Cuñado provides a virtuoso foundation in the bass range. Fiete Felsch transports melodies on saxophone and flute, which are brilliantly played around by Martin Zamorano on the piano. Composer and drummer Markus Strothmann provides the subtle and communicative percussive basis. The album of this project was released in 2020. A unique recording, brilliantly enhanced by Gary Husband on piano.

Fiete Felsch is first saxophonist with the NDR BIG BAND and professor of saxophone and improvisation at the University of Music and Drama in Hamburg. He is one of the outstanding soloists for saxophone and flute in Europe. Felsch has already worked with the following artists: Al Jarreau, Wayne Shorter, Joe Williams , Peter Herbolzheimer, Till Brönner, Nils Landgren, Clark Terry, Dave Holland , Thomas Quasthoff , Manfred Krug, Inga Rumpf, Echt, Joao Bosco, Bobby Mc Ferrin, Vladislav Sendecki and many more.

Markus Strothmann likes to perform in as many different styles as possible. Among other things, this has led to him performing at the "WDR Jazznacht" and "Wacken" in 2012. Thanks to his experience with jazz greats such as Nippy Noya, Frederik Köster, Bart van Lier and many others, he has already established himself on the international jazz scene at a young age.
