Eisenwerda, 1982: Jo is fourteen, on the verge of the Jugendweihe, the terribly conservative skirt is already ready. Then a photo of a young London girl falls into her hands: leather jacket, torn tights, messy hairstyle. Everything suddenly makes sense to Jo. She dyes her hair bright green - from now on she's punk! She founds a band, falls in love with Ratte, who drums at breakneck speed, and spends her nights pogo dancing in the compressed air shed. Unbridled energy rages through a country where nothing else moves. But the authorities feel threatened by this freedom. Jo is soon targeted by the police, then by state security. Harassment, arrests and violence follow ...
