We're finally bringing the German-language a cappella band back into our homes:

Some people still think that a cappella is a dusty domain for bland musical performances with no oomph. They've reckoned without Maybebop! Some 25 years after they were founded, they are more fresh than ever and delight in subverting all expectations.

What this band has been doing full-time for a quarter of a century is far more than mere vocal acrobatics. It is an exploration of the essence of musical expression, distilled down to the purely human: the voice. The results are original, German-language compositions that move elegantly between sharp-tongued satire, profound reflection, touching empathy and absurd comedy.

Maybebop is intellectually agile and politically unambiguous. They stand for tolerance and openness, their lyrics are a clear rejection of all forms of populism. Their declared aim is not only to sing about the social and the good, but to actively fuel it. Their idealism is pleasantly down-to-earth and firmly anchored in reality. Maybebop refuses to stick to a set program. The set list is put together anew every evening and the audience has a say in what is sung: Brand new songs meet celebrated classics, interaction meets spontaneity, curiosity meets risk-taking.
