The "Meme it!" workshop combines local archive material with modern meme culture. Young and old can engage with one of the most modern forms of exchanging ideas while crafting and digitizing memes from historical images together - at the same time creating their own meme language from Krefeld-City for Krefeld-City.
The workshop will be led by Daria and Marvin Katrinski, designer couple and social media nerds from Krefeld. They will show all meme newcomers what this media form is all about and how it shapes social media, the cultural and social significance of memes and how to become a meme artist yourself.
Then it's off to the scissors: Everyone can make their own memes - the highlight: the whole thing works analog. So if you're not a tech genius, there's no need to be afraid.
The aim of the crafting activity is to end up with cool, special memes about Krefeld, which will be digitized and distributed on social media (with reference to the creator). If you don't want this, you don't have to share your memes, of course.
In addition, the memes created will be exhibited on the Freischwimmer premises if desired.
