Reading and discussion with the author.
Who is reflected in the window pane at night? Myself or someone else? What happens when the skin becomes permeable and the air thinner? Poetic stories of people in the sand, washed out by dwindling certainties.
Milena Michiko Flašar tells of a writer with writer's block who falls in love with a vixen, of former lovers who become voyeurs out of boredom, of a woman who is caught up in the tsunami purely through the media, of two friends who get drunk over an ethical dispute, or of a passionate reader who first loses his brother and then his wife in a completely mysterious way.
These stories are about doubling and dissolving, disappearing and dreaming away, about escapes and evasions. The author's handwriting is unmistakable, the rhythm, the choice of words of her particular style. As in her novels, Milena Michiko Flašar studies various forms of loneliness and unfulfilled longings in these stories, but humorously and playfully adds a new surreal-fantastic level to the literary field.
